Moto Rapido Racing came away from Donington Park after Scott Smart secured a second place in the National Superstock 1000 race and also gained a first UK podium for the Ducati 1198S.

The second place wrapped a satisfying meeting for Moto Rapido team as Scott and the team continued to make steady progress throughout practice and qualifying over the Bank Holiday.

Despite no pre-season testing the team has seen the fruits of their efforts pay off with progressively improved results as the team has secured 8th, 4th and 2nd places over the first 3 rounds and now find themselves 3rd in the Championship.

Rapido couldn’t have timed their first podium better as their main sponsors, Objektum Venues, Solent Scientific and Ducati UK turned up in force to support the team. New sponsors Wurth UK (Distributors of Shell Advance) saw an immediate return on investment after agreeing a sponsorship deal over the race weekend.

Steve ‘Wilf’ Moore, Team Manager/Owner was delighted with the result and commented, “We’re obviously all very pleased, Scott had been consistently fast all weekend and we were looking for a podium finish to start filling the trophy cabinet. With only three days until our local race a Thruxton there is plenty to do. We were very well supported this weekend with our main sponsors attending the race so it’s great to spray some champagne about with them there.”

Scott Smart appreciated the progress that had been made, “It is a great result for the whole team, with no pre season testing it’s been hard work getting the set up we needed, but we’re there now and the 2nd place trophy is a great reward”

The team now move quickly on to their home circuit Thruxton this weekend, hopeful to keep the momentum going and continue to move up the Championship rankings.
